John 9:1-3 KJV – A Man Born Blind Receives Sight
“Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.”“
Here, we see a man who was born blind. The disciples determine that his burden is a result of sin, however, Jesus explains that the man was born blind “that the works of God should be revealed in him.”
God did not cause the man’s blindness, however, He did allow it (just like he allowed Satan to tempt Job); “so that His mighty works could be revealed in him” when the man got healed (restored, made whole). In other words, the man was held as an instrument of God’s Grace.
He was held as one who God willed to show Grace to and through. The blind man received Grace in being healed; and God was glorified through him as he shared the testimony of his experience with Christ.
If you have received the gift of salvation in Christ, you are an instrument of God’s Grace – rejoice in the salvation that God has brought to you and testify of His goodness! Even if facing challenging circumstances, know that your life is reserved for God’s Glory through the finished work of Jesus Christ, and His “Grace is sufficient” (II Cor. 12:9).
