Dictionary.com defines ‘despair’ as: 1 noun loss of hope, hopelessness;
2 verb to lose, give up, or be without hope

‘Despair’ is by no means a term that should be associated with the life of a born-again believer in Jesus Christ. We do not despair with the hopelessness of those who are in the world! We have been brought to a Living Hope through faith in Christ. Continue reading No Despair.

Hope

What is hope?
Hope is defined as: a confident expectation, or anticipation for some thing, or some event.

What is the importance of hope?
Well, the first and obvious point, is that where there is no hope, there is hopelessness. Hopelessness is realized where there is no belief or expectation for anything good to be found, or to come to pass in one’s life or circumstance – i.e “No hope for tomorrow..”. Hope is important, because no one wants to be hopeless – even people who are hopeless don’t want to be hopeless!

For believers in Christ Jesus, hope is important because it influences one’s faith and believing. Hebrews 11:1 says “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for..“. Hebrews 6:19 refers to hope as “an anchor of the soul“. Continue reading Hope
