Dictionary.com defines ‘despair’ as: 1 noun loss of hope, hopelessness;
2 verb to lose, give up, or be without hope
‘Despair’ is by no means a term that should be associated with the life of a born-again believer in Jesus Christ. We do not despair with the hopelessness of those who are in the world! We have been brought to a Living Hope through faith in Christ. That hope is both sure (secure) and steadfast (upstanding), and serves as an anchor of the soul. It enters into the holiest place (behind the veil), where Christ is entered and seated at the right-hand of God, the Father. (ref. Hebrews 6:19-20)
“Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.”
Romans 5:5 (AMPC)
We who are born-again do not despair! We rest our hope fully on the grace of God that is to be brought to us at the revelation of Jesus Christ! (ref. 1 Peter 1:13) We know that Jesus is coming, and our hope rests in that day when the fullness of God’s promise is fulfilled. We do not fear death or sorrow as others who have no hope [beyond the grave]. (ref. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
*1 Peter 1:3-9 (AMPC) paraphrased
“Praised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been *born-again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [born-anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in Heaven for you, who are being guarded (garrisoned) by God’s power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit that final] salvation that is ready to be revealed for you in the last time.“
BECAUSE JESUS IS ALIVE AND COMING, WE HAVE HOPE!
